In Switzerland we estimate that personal loan is concerning more than 150'000 people by year. Nevertheless, the majority of them ignore what are the conditions for getting a credit. In our article we are proposing you to have an overview of the usual conditions practised by banks and credit agencies in our country.
Conditions linked to the financial situation
Whatever the agency or the bank towards which the consumer is requesting a loan, this one has the obligation to check the eligibility of the customer. Thus for getting a credit you must:
Have a financial situation allowing you the repayment of the loan: we are usually considering a minimum income of 2’900 per month, but everything will depend on the budget of the borrowers.
(rent, insurances, dependant child allowance,….)
Don’t have prosecution or acts of failures.
Conditions linked to the nationality
In Switzerland, foreigners who are holding a working permit can get a credit without problem. Nevertheless, depending on the kind of permit, a minimal working duration towards the same employers is required:
Swiss: 3 months at least.
C permit: 3 months at least.
B permit: 6 months at least.
G permit: 4 years at least.
Legitimation cards: 3 months at least, depending on the card validity.
Conditions linked to the working type
In addition to the credit conditions linked to the nationality and the financial situations, your working type is playing a role for getting a loan:
You are salaried: no particular restriction.
You are a temporary salaried: the banks can require a supplementary document (salary pay slip,…) for the validation of your request.
You are independent: it is necessary to provide the last taxation notice, so usually 2 years activity minimum.
You are an AVS annuitant: no particular restriction.
You are an AI annuitant: you mustn’t have additional benefits.
Overall loan conditions
Finally in addition to the credit conditions linked above, overall conditions are as well required:
Age: the borrower must have at least 18 years old. Moreover, according to the law, he must have reimbursed his credit for his 70 years, but usually it is difficult to get a credit from 65 years old.
Family situation: having dependant children or annuity (paid or received) will affect the budget calculation, consequently the chance to get a credit.
