Types of boilers

For houses, farms and premises which are not connected to any type of heating system, it is necessary to install a boiler to heat up the places. There are different types of equipment with different features:

  • Oil-fired boiler: this is the most common solution and the least expensive. Nonetheless, this type of installation needs a regular delivery of fuel oil and a minimal irrigation temperature of 60%.
  • Electrical boiler: This type of boiler has some advantages like the initial cost and an easy installment. An electrical boiler can seem expensive when bought, however the installment costs are not too high since it does not require tubes. Nevertheless, this option is less energy efficient and has high costs.
  • Gas-fired boiler: this type of boiler is ideal for buildings that have a gas connection. If this is not the case, then there is the necessity to set up a gas reservoir and to fill it up once or twice a year.
  • Hybrid boiler: this enhanced equipment combines two or more heat sources. You can usually find gas-fired hybrid boilers that allow you to combine them with an electrical air-water heat pump. This option is often efficient and does not make dependent on one heat source. Nonetheless, this boiler is expensive when bought and its financing is not open everyone.

From 4,000 to 15,000 CHF or even more

The cost of a boiler can vary depending on its type (oil-fired, electrical, gas-fired or hybrid) and model (brand and capacity). A boiler financing cost can generally go from 4,000 up to 15,000 CHF. Some bargain models can have a cost under 4,000 CHF, more expensive models can even go over 15,000 up to 20,000 CHF.

You must not forget that there is the professional installation cost. The price can vary depending on its installation period. You should consider spending at least 1,000 CHF.

Finance your boiler with a private credit

The costs of financing a boiler can generally go from 5,000 up to 16,000 CHF, including the installment. Those costs correspond to the amount you can get with a private credit. You can of course use part of your mortgage to finance your boiler, however the replacement or repair has to be financed with your own funds. A credit can then be an advantageous and flexible solution. To set an example, a 10,000 CHF loan can be reimbursed in 48 months and would have a 242 CHF cost per month with a 7.9 % interest rate.

Bank or specialist

You can surely ask a bank to finance your boiler with a loan, yet it is better to ask an agency or a broker specialist first. You could for example ask Multicredit for financing solutions for any type of renovation work. Furthermore, you can also get a free offer from a Swiss specialist with no commitments.
